The Buccaneers won, 20-16 scoring the game-winning points in the third quarter on a rousing, 11-yard tackle-breaking designed run by QB Baker Mayfield, who had scrambled for a first down on the previous play. The Lions had taken their only lead of game on a David Montgomery touchdown run on the previous drive but the Bucs answered with a 70-yard drive that proved to be the end of the scoring. Mayfield also hit WR Chris Godwin on a 41-yard touchdown pass down the left sideline in the second quarter after Chase McLaughlin had nailed field goals of 30 and 55 yards on the Bucs' first two possessions.
